The turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has already struck many art organizations, shaking them to their cores and leaving their futures uncertain. What we do in the coming months will determine the fate of the Portland Revels as an organization and as an extended arts family. But the Revels has something that many arts organizations don’t— this community of diverse talents, experience, and knowledge that spreads across the country and the world.
Lacking the usual revenue of ticket sales for a staged performance, fundraising and active engagement with our wider audience will be vital to securing the financial future of our organization. To this point, we are reaching out to our wide reaching Revels family to join us in holding a Financial Barn Raising!
This year we are looking to our family and friends to help us build a solid foundation, sheltering walls, and a roof to ward off future storms and hardship, making the Revels weathertight for 2020 and into 2021. Despite the demanding social and political climate that surrounds us, we are dedicated to providing our community with an uplifting experience that brings back the light during the darkest time of the year. In this unprecedented year, we are laying a firm financial foundation for the Portland Revels and producing a Christmas Revels show like no other.
