The most potent memory I have of Revels is the magic within the circle time before a performance. That shared space and time will always remain sacred in my heart. Revels is an important way for all of us to remain connected to one another and connected to the cycles of our natural world in an increasingly isolating and disconnected society. Revels provides everyone with access to ‘new’ rituals that we all crave whether we know it or not.

Both Betsy and Robert embody a knowledge and love for music that is always inspiring. My fondest memories of weekly rehearsals are the “bird walks” Robert would take us on with fascinating background about the songs we were singing. It might be about the historical context of the song, the composer, or even the how and why we were using a particular pronunciations for a particular phrase. Weekly rehearsals were also a music history/theory lesson that I never expected to learn, and l grew to look forward to them almost as much a singing together!
