David Edwards

Robert, your leadership and musicality are integral to the glorious choral tradition that has arisen through the Portland Revels annals. I can’t calculate how many times I have passed wisdom that came via your voice along to my clients, students and choirs – especially the warmups that I’ve since appreciated. Or appropriated? Ok: stolen – lock, stock and… cleaning the barrel!

As much as I’d like to be there to honor you in person – and perhaps resurrect the human Whack-A-Mole game – on this occasion, I’m grateful for this opportunity to convey my love and gratitude for all you have done for me, my daughters (kids chorus alums Brooklynn and Lauren), and countless singing souls who shared a stage or song with you these last three decades. Our lives are richer for it!

And I would be remiss to not express my gratitude to Betsy for her music. So many shimmering strings of instrumental ingenuity weaving together our performances – not to mention the Music Together classes Brooklynn and I loved when she was a toddler.

My wish for you both: may life continue to shower you with musical moments akin to these you’ve helped create …and send you more and more!
